Build a Series ID

Every BLS data point has a unique series ID composed of coded segments. Select a survey and configure each segment to construct your ID โ€” then query it directly.

Select a survey above to see its series ID components.

How Series IDs Work

Each survey has its own ID format. The segments encode the survey type, geographic area, industry, measure, and other dimensions. For example:

CES (Employment):

CES6056132001

= Seasonally adjusted, Temporary Help Services, All Employees

JOLTS (Job Openings):

JTS5400990000000000JOL

= Seasonally adj, Prof & Business Services, National, All sizes, Job Openings, Level

LAUS (Local Unemployment):

LAUST480000000000003

= Not adjusted, Texas, Unemployment Rate
